Six word Saturday

Time for a piece of cake!

It's been a rather busy Saturday which is why my  Six Word Saturday is late. I'm now going to have a large wedge of cake and enjoy a move (when we agree on one we all want to watch).

My Friend Is Back At Last Six Word Sat

Six Word Saturday

Yummy, yummy, yummy in my tummy.

Every summer my friend goes back home, visiting her friends and family in New York State. She has the best of times, sharing reunions and escapades on Facebook with fabulous photos. (There was a time when she had no internet access and relied on the neighbours unsecured internet access; she had to sit on the driveway for this).
But she's back! Yay! And with her came gorgeous little thoughtful presents. And after all these years, she still manages to surprise me with a gift.
This year, I received this cute little bottle of Canadian maple syrup from her envious visit to Niagara Falls, a place that's been on my bucket list since I watched Niagara with Marilyn Monroe when I was a teen. I love her but that's another story/post/six word Sat.
I had no problem eating the jelly beans (my favourite sweet) or in wearing the cute bangle. I love it; purple is my favourite colour. As for the syrup? Not sure I can crack that cute bottle open despite the Canadian maple sticky goodness. It will have to be for something really special . . . Any ideas?
The best bit will be catching up with my friend over a pizza next week after six weeks apart.

PS: My cat, Indi, from last week's post? All is good. He's forgiven me and now accepts my presence.

Six Word Saturday . . . Lovely Week For Fluff and Stuff

Lovely Week of Fluff and Stuff

Six pic highlights of my week
Bundle of fluff 1                                                                                             Bundle of fluff 2
Met this cutie for the first time
my great niece (9months).
Spent time with my niece (4 months)

We visited Thorpeness where
you'll find The House in the Clouds
We messed around taking selfies

                                                                                 Stuff
A gorgeous 5* review for my chicklit novel started the week. Reviews are what makes an Indie author's novel a success so I was chuffed to bits by this review, and a writer too.
Available through Amazon

And to finish the week?

More stuff
I was in Suffolk and got this text from my son in Sussex. As you can see he is a boy of very few words. Kept me dangling for what felt like ages before he told me and then not much detail. But proud to bits for my boy who can now go on to do what he wants to do.

So there's my week in six pictures for Six Word Sat over at  http://www.showmyface.com/ hosted by Call Me Cate

No Wi-fi But Quality Family Time #SixWordSaturday

Our gorgeous sunny holiday is over!!!

I’m so sad to be home as it doesn’t take long for the holiday to seem a lifetime ago (when we only got back yesterday) and normality to set in- washing (loads of it), shopping (Old Mother Hubbard has nothing on my cupboards, fridge and freezer), paying bills (grrr) and being absolutely freezing cold despite the sun shining.

But the saddest thing of all is that now we’re home, we’re back to doing our own thing. The teenager has gone to the gym and meeting up with friends. The Hubby is on his XBox and I’m tippy tappy on the laptop (whilst waiting for the washing machine to do it’s thing).

On holiday there was no wi-fi which meant no continuous status updates or chats with friends or sharing photos. (Well I shared the odd one which no doubt will cost a small fortune but I’ll worry about that when the bill comes in). It also meant I missed the week my book was on sale so there was minimal publicity for that (I may have posted a few tweets . . . again, I’ll see what the bill says . . . eeekkk).

But no wi-fi!!

What were we to do??? I thought I would go into meltdown. The teenager’s life had officially ended.

Talk!

It meant we had to talk to each other for two weeks! Face to face conversations over a meal . . . ate at a table . . .  in a restaurant  . . . with fantastic views.

I still took pics of my food!
The sangria!! Yummy!!!
And boy, did we talk. Even the teenager couldn’t stop (the odd beer loosening his tongue). OK, so I now know about the superhero movies and the order to watch them, how they link to the comics etc. I know some stories from a life when my Hubby wasn’t my Hubby (didn’t his life start when he met me?). I probably know some other stuff too as we talked about random things, rambling on, late into the night, sitting on the balcony, watching the twinkling lights of the fishing boats come and go as we drank Sangria.

But it’s over and it may be the last holiday we have as a family as the teenager will be 18 next year, and already talking about holidays with his mates.

So, I’ll just gaze through the photos of our tanned, smiling faces and remember that actually no wi-fi wasn’t the end of the world for any of us.

The view from the balcony. Pure bliss

I'm Still A Cat Person . . . Right?

Love my cat, Indi

I love cats!

I just wanted to reiterate this after a week of doggie madness where dogs took over completely at work.
We (I say we, it was really the kids from Y5) hosted a dog show on the school field for a fundraising event to support their business idea for Enterprise week.
I expected dogs. That’s fine. But what I didn’t expect was this urge to stroke and pet them, even go all gooey over them, talking in that sing song voice I usually reserve for my cat! (Or any cat actually because they’re so cute).
There were some really beautiful dogs and I couldn’t resist snapping away as they competed in:

Waggiest tail
Sparkliest eyes
Dog looking most like its owner
Dog the judges would most like to take home

I wish I could add some of the pics but they’re all at work.

Hold on.

Doing what cats do best
I’m a cat person.
Always have been.
Always will be.
There’s something very therapeutic in stroking its silky fur, listening to the purr. My cat, Indi, is a right old chatterbox and makes some weird but funny sounds when he looks out at the birds in the garden.

However, my Hubby suggests I was a dog in a past life because of my love of walks and the fact dogs like me! Whenever we’re out, they always come up to me without encouragement. He reckons I’m secretly a dog person.

I’m a cat person. I’m a cat person. I’m a cat person.

Handsome boy

People were convincing me to become a dog person in my Facebook Post  with their really cute pics of doggies. I tried to balance it out with cat pics so it's quite a cute, feel good thread. And a suggestion was made in the post that you could be both a cat person and a dog person.

I still regard myself as a cat person.

Which are you; dog person or cat person or can you be both?

xx
I can see you . . .
 . . . in the Christmas tree

Bird's-eye View from the 15th Floor

This post is for Six Word Saturday where you describe your life in six words- don't you just love the little hyphen, making one word :-) .  You can then elaborate if you wish and seeing as I like words and can use thousands instead of 10 or 6, I have elaborated. I decided to share some pics from last Sunday when we had a family get together in Chelsea. I would've loved to have visited more of the places I knew so well as a child but once the photo albums come out, there's just not enough time.

Birds-eye View from the 15th Floor

Ok, not quite a bird's-eye view but as close as you'll get without flying into Heathrow. Standing on my Aunt's balcony, last Sunday, on the 15th floor on the iconic World's End estate in Chelsea, SW10, you can see right across London. In the distance is the Wembley Arch, below, the streets of Chelsea.

I used to stand on this balcony as a child and that excitement of the view has not diminished even though the views have changed.

But one thing has never changed and that's seeing Chelsea football stadium, Stamford Bridge, from the balcony on the 15th floor.

Turn in another direction, you can see The Royal Albert Hall (bit blurred that one). Then in another direction, you can see across the Thames to Battersea in 'Sarrrf' London.

I love visiting London. And will never tire of it; the buzz, the noise, the excitement, and especially those places that mean so much and were a huge part of my childhood, like the 15th floor on the World's End estate.
