The Adventures of Katie Button Pt 4 J-M

J - M

Continuing with the A-Z of Katie Button, we're here at J through to M where you can have a sneak peek into Katie's life. If you want to read more, hop over to  Amazon US Amazon UK where you can buy Katie Button for 99p/99c for a limited time.

J
James and Jack, the two love interests in Katie’s life.
James and Jack are brothers who also successfully run a branding company together alongside their father, John.
Jack is the oldest and a bit of playboy. He has a naughty twinkle in his blue eyes which attracts Katie’s attention. Whisking her away on luxury mini breaks, Katie is hooked and ready for flirty fun.
James on the other hand is dull compared to James but he does bail her out a few times when Katie has a few mishaps. He is also the subject of Katie’s romantic and sexy dreams which leaves Katie blushing in his presence.
Another J is for Johanna. She is super bitch and really doesn’t warm to Katie, or anyone for that matter. Stomping over everyone to get where she wants to be, is Johanna’s strength as well as belittling Katie and Alana as part of her everyday role.

K
Kisses and Katie
There’s plenty of kissing going on in Katie’s life and dreams.

Katie
Here’s a few words readers have used to describe Katie: quirky, passionate, kooky, funny, a regular girl who could be awkward at time but who the reader could relate to. witty, compassionate and loyal. She loves chocolate, pastries and brownies. She is always writing lists, some of which, if in the wrong hands could get her into a lot of trouble. She adores shoes and boots to distraction. Oh, and she loves mojitos and cheese strings. But she’s not perfect. On the wrong side of her line manager, Johannah, Katie finds herself justifying her every move losing her confidence. She’s a bit of a daydreamer and chatterbox, thinking about Hollywood movies rather than the business in the boardroom. And she hides Heat behind her work papers; looking conscientious but far from it.
London!!!

L
Love Lust
London

The Adventures of Katie Button is a chicklit/romance so love features heavily as well as lust. In her dreams, Katie experiences the power of love where when she wakes up, she still experiences the feeling. Lust is reserved for Jack. He’s not the man you;d take home to your mother and Katie knows this but can’t help the attraction of his playful, sexy nature.

London is the main setting of Katie Button. I love London and have lived and worked in London so it seemed natural to have this marvellous city as the backdrop to Katie’s life. However, Katie’s dreams take her further afield . . .

M
Mojitos

Mentioned earlier, Katie loves them so much, it seemed perfect for M. It’s her favourite drink; elegant, sophisticated and rather yummy! A few messy situations occur after a mojito or several . . .

Music

There's a playlist to accompany Katie Button. Katie Button Playlist . Enjoy. x

Rum based cocktails, mojito on the left. Yummy

Festive London Day Out

I love London! Regular readers may already know this from previous blog posts. It's that time of year when I visit London to soak up the festive atmosphere, have a cheeky little tipple and walk my little socks off despite having a travel card!! Year five of doing this now . . .  And it never gets boring.

First things first, a cake and drink was needed as we waited at the station for friends to arrive. Fuel for the day ahead.

                                                                    Yummy Gingerbread muffin

When we all met up, we headed off to Harrods, walking from Victoria. I love this walk. It takes you past pretty mews, great big white town houses and cute little shops as well as cars that would make Jeremy Clarkson drool.

Now, I love Harrods. Not because I used to work there. Not because I met my now hubby there. It's a place I visited as a child when I lived in Chelsea. It's a place I've always been in awe of. There Christmas department has always been a magical, twinkling place. But not this year. In fact, the past few years, the Christmas dept has slowly got worse, like no one really can be bothered with any more. It used to be themed; A Christmas Carol, The wizard of Oz have featured. But lately, it just seems like tat; over priced tat.

And they have this awful room, full of dead animal skin. I can't believe in the 21st century, people still find it acceptable to wear fur!!!! A bloodthirsty room that is far from beautiful.

Messi
Ronaldo

We found these in one room, signed footballs by the two greatest footballers in the world (at the moment); Messi and Ronaldo. Taking the pics, the assistant asked if I needed any help to which I politely said, 'no'. He said that the balls would make great gifts. No doubt they would for those who have the cash. He then told me they had a 10% discount! On the one hand, I was rather smug to think he thought I had this type of money and on the other, I couldn't stop laughing. Even if the four of us clubbed together, we couldn't afford one of these footballs. Top marks for trying.

After our little bimble round Harrods and buying some pastries in the bakery part of the Food Halls, we wondered over to Hyde Park where Winter Wonderland was in full festive fun.

              Minion Madness in Winter Wonderland

Hot chocolate with Baileys and Mulled Cider were our tipples as we wandered around the stalls, soaking in all the festive fun, browsing the many stalls.

Then on to Oxford Street for Selfridges and to see the lights.

Once we came out of Selfridges, it was dark and the lights were amazing. Photos do not do the lights justice.

Selfridges shop windows are just as fabulous! This one is Capricorn which is my star sign . . .Yay!! It's my birthday soon!!!!!!

And to finish a fantastic festive day in London . . .
Cheers xxx

How about sharing your festive outings/traditions. Be lovely to hear from you. xxxx

A-Z of Katie Button Part Three

G-I

Continuing with the A-Z of Katie Button where we meet two very important men in Katie's life  dreams.

                                                 G

Gladiator
One of Katie’s dreams takes place in Ancient Rome. A sweaty, bloodied but heroic gladiator is the focus of the dream. He is idolised and treated as a celebrity because of his success in the arena, earning wealth and his own slave who he falls in love with. The dream gets Katie all hot and bothered when she realises she is the slave and who the gladiator is . . .

H

Highwayman
The highwayman is possibly one of Katie’s favourite dreams. He is dashing. He is mysterious. He is brave. And as sexy as hell in his black eye mask, white billowing shirt and black leather boots, defying the King and evading the redcoats hot on his tail.

I

Iacobus

The Latin name of her gorgeous gladiator. Yes, in her dream, Katie speaks fluent Latin and understands every word. In the real world, Katie is fluent in waffle so the Latin thing really confuses her . . . those dreams are throwing Katie around like confetti in the wind.

The all important blurb

What happens when your dreams collide with reality?

Katie Button doesn’t believe in soul mates. When charismatic Jack Masterson asks her out on a date, despite him being her new boss alongside his more aloof brother, James, she agrees.

But her romantic dreams about a dashing highwayman, heroic gladiator and Tudor lord are becoming more frequent. And, worryingly, they feel real. She remembers every detail, every touch, every kiss. Until she realises the man in her dreams is James.

But Katie doesn’t even like James. And what about Jack, who is whisking her away for sexy mini breaks in the here and now?

Katie knows she needs to put an end to her dreams before they ruin her life. But how?

And a few cute words from a couple of reviewers:

A-Z Katie Button Part Two

D-F

D

Ducks

Katie loves ducks. She loves their cute waddle and their togetherness. Feeding them in the park, Katie wishes she could find her duck. I can’t really say any more without giving away titbits other than the men in Katie’s life could learn a thing or two from the monogamous duck.

Dreams

I couldn’t do D without mentioning dreams. Gorgeous dreams where the same man appears whether he’s a dashing highwayman, a glorious gladiator or a Todor Lord with friends in very high places. The dreams are deliciously sexy and powerfully emotional; love, sex, betrayal and death all feature. No wonder Katie reaches for the chocolate brownies when she awakes.

                                                           E

Edwardian

One of the periods in history Katie visits in her dreams. The date is April 10th 1912 and she is at Southampton, waiting to board a White Star Line ship to a new life in America with James. As a domestic to James’ family, their relationship is secret and a new life across the ocean is the only way they can be together.

                                                           F

Fun! Funny! Fabulous!

Words used in some of the reviews from gorgeous readers of The Adventures of Katie Button. Words any author of Chicklit would love to hear regarding their character/heroine. These words also describe Katie, although ‘fabulous’ would be reserved for her purple boots.

Don't Be Shy

Shyness isn't something people could accuse me of but when it comes to my debut novel The Adventures of Katie Button, I could have done that little bit more. So, here are some of the reviews I have received from wonderful readers. I have 17 in total which is amazing!

Katie Button is on offer right now, 99p/ 99c Amazon UK Amazon US if you fancy a little giggle with 'quirky and kooky' Katie.

I received a review copy

the adventures of katie buttonReview:

In The Adventures of Katie Button, Katie Button is your average person. She likes concerts, chocolate, watching T.V., and shopping. She and her best friend work at a marketing firm, where they have the supervisor from Hell that dislikes her. The thing that isn’t average about her, is that she is having these extremely vivid dreams. In all of her intense dreams, she is involved with this hunky man James, but they are sadly parted. Her dreams take place from all reaches of time and sometimes in different languages. Katie doesn’t think much of it, that is until she discovers that one of her new bosses is a dead ringer for her dream man, and they even share the same name. Unfortunately, “reality” James isn’t much interested in her or nearly as charming; while his older brother Jack seems more her type. When the dreams won’t stop, and threaten to be a problem at work and in her new relationship with Jack, she seeks help and discovers that these realistic dreams are more than she ever imagined. These dreams are fragments of her memories from her past lives, as she and James are soul mates. Now she has to try and reunite them, while at the same time excel at her job and keep her evil overlord supervisor from firing her.
I am not one that is interested in paranormal tales, reincarnation, or anything of that semblance, but I extremely enjoyed this tale. And the main reason for why I had trouble putting this book down? Katie Button. Katie Button was an all-around fun character who the reader could relate to. Katie was just a regular girl who could be awkward at times, didn’t always make the best decisions, and was more at home watching Diagnosis Murder marathons than clubbing or partying. Her wit, compassion, and all around character are a lot of fun and incredibly endearing. I could have just read about her everyday life without the dreams and past lives, and had been just as entertained. I thought it was a great read and give it a four out of five stars.

And if you like what readers have said, here's that all important blurb:

My Friend Is Back At Last Six Word Sat

Six Word Saturday

Yummy, yummy, yummy in my tummy.

Every summer my friend goes back home, visiting her friends and family in New York State. She has the best of times, sharing reunions and escapades on Facebook with fabulous photos. (There was a time when she had no internet access and relied on the neighbours unsecured internet access; she had to sit on the driveway for this).
But she's back! Yay! And with her came gorgeous little thoughtful presents. And after all these years, she still manages to surprise me with a gift.
This year, I received this cute little bottle of Canadian maple syrup from her envious visit to Niagara Falls, a place that's been on my bucket list since I watched Niagara with Marilyn Monroe when I was a teen. I love her but that's another story/post/six word Sat.
I had no problem eating the jelly beans (my favourite sweet) or in wearing the cute bangle. I love it; purple is my favourite colour. As for the syrup? Not sure I can crack that cute bottle open despite the Canadian maple sticky goodness. It will have to be for something really special . . . Any ideas?
The best bit will be catching up with my friend over a pizza next week after six weeks apart.

PS: My cat, Indi, from last week's post? All is good. He's forgiven me and now accepts my presence.

A To Z of Katie Button Part One

A to C

Phew. It’s been an amazing two months since The Adventures of Katie Button was released through Crooked Cat PublishingTwo months of fab reviews and comments.

I thought I’d share a few titbits about Katie Button and her world by doing an A-Z, after getting the idea from Laura Huntly, author of Black Eyed Boyalso released through Crooked Cat.

So here goes . . . at least the beginning is easy . . . not looking forward to X! Hopefully something will crop up.
                                                              A
Alana
In Three words: Confident. Honest. Loyal.
Katie’s best friend and work colleague. Alana affectionately calls Katie ‘Sweets’ and supplies the morning coffees and pastries. She dresses for the job she wants and is not afraid to go for it. Although not a major character, without Alana in the background, being there with a cheeky mojito, Katie’s life would be in danger of imploding spectacularly.

B
Boots & Brownies
I couldn’t choose! Both are an important part of Katie’s life.
Boots
Katie is a shoeaholic and a pair of purple suede boots are her latest buy and favourite pair. Buying them wasn’t easy. The results in wearing them were unexpected too.
Brownies
The most deliciously moist, fudgy, chewy brownies Katie has ever tasted. Homemade by Peter, a guy she meets after experiencing some rather emotional dreams. A brownie or two or five always make the situation better.

C
Chocolate

This list seems to be food related. Chocolate is very important to a girl and Katie is no exception. Not only does she love chocolate, she ends up working with it in her role at Red Communications, a branding company. She can often be found chomping her way through bars of Galaxy or Cadbury as she sits at her desk. Table picnics are a common occurrence for Katie.

And that's it for now. Hope that's whetted your appetite for The Adventures of Katie Button, a quirky little chicklit.
